The Engine House is located on Birge Street in Brattleboro, Vermont.
In the center of the factory buildings, behind the building with
the large outdoor clock, is our first gallery of exhibits - a preview
of things to come.
Admission
is $3 and is free for Members. Check our home page for our schedule.
The Engine
House tells what the museum project about and features exhibits
on the Estey Organ Company chronology, their reed organs, pipe organs,
and electronic organs, Estey tools, advertising, catalogs, and a
special look at musical innovator and Estey employee Harald Bode.
In 2008 we
plan to feature reed, electronic, and pipe organs from our collection,
including the new "Walk-Through Pipe Organ."
If you live in the area and would like to volunteer to be a docent
at the Engine House, we would love to hear from you. Please e-mail
us at pr@esteyorganmuseum.org
for more information.
Interactive Map of the Estey
Organ Factory c. 1930
See the way the buildings were arranged in 1930, and roll your cursor
over them to see what happened inside. Note: If you don't see anything,
you'll need to get
the Flash plug-in.
Some things to think about:
- Why do you think the Boiler and Engine Rooms are located where
they are?
- Why did Estey have a special building for storing varnish
and oil?
- Can you figure out where a reed organ was built?
- Where were pipe organs put together?
- Where did organs leave the factory?
- If you were designing the factory, would you do it this way?
