A new museum is underway, dedicated
to the history and contributions of the Estey Organ Company of Brattleboro,
Vermont. The company was world-known for manufacturing reed, pipe,
and electronic organs and operated for nearly a century.
Organizers have set up
a 501(3)(c) non-profit corporation in the state of Vermont for the
purposes of building this museum in the historic slate-sided factory
buildings that still stand. We hope you will get involved in this
noble effort to preserve the instruments, the history, the stories,
and the music, of all those touched by Estey organs.
The Estey Organ Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.
and at other times by appointment.
The museum is located
in the Engine House of the Estey Organ Company's factory buildings
at 108 Birge Street (rear) in Brattleboro, Vermont.
Other visits can be arranged
upon request.
This summer, the museum
is featuring an exhibit about Estey electronic pioneer Harald Bode
and his Lifetime of Sound. Explore the Walk Through Pipe Organ,
and explore a century of organ building in Brattleboro.
The Esteyville Common
is home to a bandstand that has been a stage for many musicians
over the years. This year, the museum has joined forces with the
esteyville Common Committee to help create the 2010 summer music
series: "Music at esteyville Common"
You are encouraged to come picnic at 6:30 pm. Music begins at 7
p.m.
