FREE ORGAN DEMONSTRATION/CONCERT AT JUNE GALLERY WALK

Estey Organ Museum Presents Charter Membership Event Jointly With Open House at the First Baptist Church.

Brattleboro, VT USA May 15, 2002 -- The Estey Organ Museum is holding a Charter Membership event at First Baptist Church, Main Street, Brattleboro, VT on June 7th from 5 to 8:30pm. This free organ concert and tour of the church's Estey memorials is part of Gallery Walk and is open to all.

From 5 to 8 pm, the music of the Estey Reed Organ will be featured with performances by Marguerite Douglas, Ned Phoenix, and Barbara Winter.

From 8 to 8:30 pm, Luella Frechette will play a selection of popular songs on the Julius Jacob Estey (1845-1902) Memorial Pipe Organ installed in the First Baptist Church in 1906.

While listening to the sound of organ music played on reed and pipe organs made here in Brattleboro, those attending the performance can also view the original stained glass window depicting Jesus as a youth among the Temple scholars, which was donated by the Estey family and church friends in memory of Jacob (1814-1890) and Desdemona (Wood) Estey (1810-1891). The bronze memorial plaque on the pipe organ may also be viewed during the Gallery Walk hours of 5 to 8pm. A church tour guide will be available to speak about these memorials and the persons they represent.

Estey Organ Museum members will be on hand to answer questions about the museum and membership applications will be available for those wishing to join. Refreshments will also be served.

This is the first in a series of events to raise awareness about Estey to be sponsored by the Estey Organ Museum. The group's goal is to create a world-class interactive music museum here in Brattleboro.
