RIVER CRUISE WITH ORGAN MUSIC

Estey Organ Museum Members Contribute Music To RSVP

Brattleboro, VT USA August 31, 2002 -- Estey Organ Museum members Peg Goldyn and Ned Phoenix are lending a hand at this year's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) River Cruise aboard the Belle of Brattleboro on September 5th, 2002. They will be playing an Estey "Gothic" reed organ from the Brattleboro Historical Society's collection as RSVP members enjoy the ride on the Connecticut River.

The event is a fundraiser for RSVP. Tickets can be purchased from RSVP at 254-7515, and reservations are limited to 45 people.

Songs Selections from the Estey Organ Method will be featured on the Estey organ. The Estey Organ Method was an instruction book that was published in 1879 and 1882 by the Estey Organ Company to accompany an organ purchase. From this, proud organ owners could learn to play their new Estey reed organs.

Working with other organizations is part of the museum's informal outreach program. "We thought this would be a fun event to help with," said Cindy Wilcox, President of Estey Organ Museum. "We'd like to give the people as many opportunities as possible to hear these remarkable instruments, and we couldn't resist the idea of loading an organ onto a boat for a night of music on the river."
