Donated to the Estey Organ Museum in 2026 by Pal Borofsky, this Chaplain’s Organ belonged to the 745th Tank Battalion attached to the First Infantry Division, which was part of the Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. The 745th landed the next morning when the beach was secure and safe for offloading tanks. It later moved across northern France and beyond to arrive in Czechoslovakia.
Estey made military organs under contract with the Department of Defense.
The serial number of this organ is 417909, dating its manufacture to approximately 1942. The stencil “HQ745” appears on the back.
